Review on 🚴 Schwinn Black Bike Brake and Derailleur Cable Repair Kit by Petr Webster

Great for Peugeot/Simplex/Classic French Shifters

I have a 1983 Peugeot PF60 and found the ends of the stock shifter cables to be too large to fit my downtube Simplex shifters. Standard cable ends would stick out instead of being flush with the arm; You'll need to grind the diameter of the cable end a bit to match the cable, or leave it on top of the arm. I found an old forum post on this particular issue and the poster recommended this Schwinn cable kit. because the end of the cable is a little smaller than the standard cable. I tested this on my old Peugeot and found it true! Note: These cables are already routed through the cable body with ball ends on both ends of the cable. I just cut off one end and pulled out the cable to use my own shifter housing. Aside from the shifter/cable end issue, it also turned out that the barrel adjuster on my Simplex derailleur (where the cable housing enters the RD) was too small to fit a standard size hub. I tried one of the tips from this kit and it works just as well! Bottom line: If you have a classic French bike with a French shifter and are having trouble with cables that don't fit, these kits are worth a look.
