Works as described. I only have a 12/3, 100 and 50 foot outer extension. I recently purchased another 100ft outdoor extension cord and ordered this cord reel. When I received the spool I knew it wouldn't hold a new extension cord. The reel can reasonably accommodate a 50ft outside extension that I have laying around in the garage for garden use. It is not intended for industrial use. I have several of these plastic spools. They hold (for me) because I treat them like babies. But as soon as they start rolling behind my truck, they fall apart. If you're the type of guy who throws everything in the back of a truck at the end of the day, this isn't for you.
