Small Home Networking Kit - full kit requires a real punch tool

Let me start by saying that the only thing missing from this kit is the right punch tool. So if you decide to purchase this kit and need to make connections, be sure to purchase a separate punch tool to use. The small piece of plastic punch that comes with the kit isn't good enough to make a real connection (i.e. cut the wire from the outside and push it into the connection groove on the inside). I bought this kit because the T/O network in my bedroom has stopped working. Of course, I first assumed it was the end device itself, then maybe the router or router port the device was connected to, but standard troubleshooting techniques (aka divide and conquer) eventually led me to the realization that something is wrong inside wall. this. between the socket in the bedroom and the pinhole wall socket next to the router. Was so damn hoping it wasn't the cable itself in the wall (highly unlikely but still possible) and instead decided to focus on a more likely culprit. I bought this kit to test everything related to level 1. I'm glad I did. Instead of paying $200-$300 to a professional for troubleshooting and repairs, I paid $35 for this kit and found out within 20 minutes that I had a *faulty* wall outlet in my bedroom and* a bad outlet next to it my router had. I replaced a $5 outlet in a warehouse at home and used a different wall outlet near my router, using this handy $35 kit to cut, splice, and reattach the CAT5 cable connect the new sockets. As mentioned, I had to shell out another $40 for an actual punch tool from a home store to make the connection on the wall side of the router. $80 total (kit, punch tool, and new wall jack) and 1 hour of effort and you're done. . What started out as a very frustrating problem led me to improve my CAT5 skills and prepare for any other Layer 1 network problems that ever came my way.
