A lot of what makes a "good" kicker is familiar. This is a smooth, plastic look. It seems to be of normal quality - no complaints. Please note that this is not the case for most competitive and high-end tables. These balls have a slightly more rubbery and rough texture. Plastic balls play faster and wilder. Because they're smooth, you can get end-to-end slips, bounces, and jumps that textured balls don't have. Of course, this means that you usually have less control. Some are used to this (and I've seen some players at the bar have amazing smooth ball control). For those who are used to textured balls, you can try them for a different playing experience. But in general, if you want a more controlled game or a competitive feel, this isn't for you. However, my kids love them because the action is wild.
