Soft, felt-like polyester, dense and well padded. Perfect for storing valuable pots and pans and protecting them from nicks, dents, scratches or even broken glass when using them with glass cookware. The cushions are thick but not intrusive, and with four different sizes, they're easy to use. For those who want an exact fit, the material is easy to trim and tailor to your needs. They can be used to protect dishes and protect when moving. The frugal among us might want to cut or split it and have 2-4 times more profile - the possibilities are vast depending on your needs. Another use is as a countertop protector - we have very hard and very cold granite countertops - using this between granite cookware protects both the cookware and the countertop. The protective pads are washable, but I would recommend hand washing them with a grease-dissolving dishwashing detergent. I think machine washing is too harsh for fingers and may tear them. No drying instructions, but I would air dry and not worry about tangling or tearing in the car dryer. These pot and pan guards cost about $11 (compared to new cookware). We highly recommend them.
