A bit fiddly, but it works.

First off, the instructions are written in obnoxious English and are hard to read. USB Micro-B connector on the side of the device which I don't think anyone uses anymore. The connector is not seated properly, but appears to be working. On the computer side, it's a detachable cable with a USB-C end and a USB-A end. It's bulky and clunky, but then again, it works (on my Macbook Air M1). The mechanism is a tray, not a slot. Chunky again, but okay - it might be safer as a tray, which is why they decided to build it that way. Also annoying is the colored light display at the top, which cycles through colors during playback. I'm sure someone thought this was a great feature, but it's just annoying, especially in a darkened room when you're trying to watch a movie. Interestingly, the first disk inserted was not recognized - it was spinning. and blinked for a minute or so and then spat it out again. I put in a second disc and this time it asked me for the region code. After selecting the region, I was able to eject it and insert the first disc. The first disc was then recognized normally and played without problems. Of the pluses - a pretty nice bag with a pocket for cables and a partition to protect the player. The player is made of metal rather than plastic, which should make it more durable. So it can be used as a player. I haven't tried burning DVDs or CDs - to be honest, I don't do that anymore, but it's nice to know that it apparently can.

Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks
