This is a very good coffee filter. Nice, cleans well and brews delicious coffee. The dropper does not heat up to the touch when it needs to be picked up. The metal tab is large enough to be picked up and removed from the mug. I had to buy a smaller coffee mug as my large Fiesta mugs are just too big. It is not necessary to use freshly ground coffee. I use good old Maxwell House coffee. It filters with no issues and no heavy deposits at the bottom of my cup. I use 2 tablespoons of coffee to 16 ounces of water if that helps anyone. It makes a nice dark coffee. No brown water for me. My desire to switch to a drip stems from the fact that my single serve coffee makers only lasted about a year. I often clean them with vinegar and they still grow nasty slime molds. You cannot clean a disposable coffee maker well enough to prevent this from happening. It's just a fact. We tested a Keurig coffee maker and three Hamilton Beach coffee makers. All had a very short lifespan due to bacteria or mold growing inside them. you tell me what it is Again, I ALWAYS clean my coffee pots with vinegar. The vinegar just isn't aggressive enough.
