For $80 I expected a lot more

This bottle was beautifully designed so I gave it two stars. It works great as a water bottle but honestly I was expecting a lot more. First, liquid tracking: This bottle was so expensive that it's better to tell me if I've had half an ounce of water but haven't. Each time you drink or refill the bottle, you have to open the app, press the sync button, shake the bottle, place it on a flat surface, THEN it will record how much you drink. If it were automatic I wouldn't leave this review at all, but honestly there's no reason I have to pay all this money to use the app for everything. Worst of all, after recalibrating 3 times, the bottle was still getting the amount of water I was so incredibly wrong drinking! I drink from a bottle, says I drank 5 ounces, takes three sips, writes I drank 17.5 ounces. The bottle only holds 16 oz! App: I don't want to open the app every time I use the bottle, what a nightmare. Seriously, you can use it to pour water manually. So what's the point of having an $80 bottle to sync when I can just pour as much as I drank for free? Bottle design: screw cap which I'm not a fan of so just a preference. The bottle isn't insulated, so if you put ice on it, it'll sweat like crazy! This makes me nervous because the base has a battery and you shouldn't get it wet. Also, this bottle is big and heavy. It's the same size as my 24 ounce bottle but only holds 16 ounces. All in all this bottle was a sad disappointment, it looks nice but that's about it. To be honest I would have returned it on day one but it was a gift from my husband so I gave it a try, tried it for a few weeks but trust me save your money and try something else or just download the app and unlock it manually. You will still do it when you get a bottle. I just use my usual boring low-tech bottle, which makes me sad because it was cool and trendy, but that's no reason to lug around a heavy no-water bottle that does nothing and has a mouth hole I don't use like.
