This center will not leave you indifferent!

I saw the discounted CS9080 and thought I needed to upgrade the center channel! I already have a DefTech setup in my theater (okay, it's just a cave, but it's about the best I can do in this house) with powerful subwoofer towers, a very old center, and a bipolar environment. constantly discounted from the regular $1,000 and I'm here to say it's STEALING! This device has an active subwoofer AND a bass radiator. So the question is, how do you want to set up your home theater sound system? Your center is the most important part in my opinion. This is your speaker, your voices. If you don't get the center right, with the right spacing and balanced levels, you'll hear people on the screen and in front of you speaking behind you or to the side. I always set my mid a little higher or higher so the family doesn't have audio input questions or concerns when watching regular TV/cable programs, which can vary in quality. But if that's all you've ever done, check out the many soundbar options (including DefTech). This center is so strong, yet crisp and clean out of the box... It's the best I've ever heard. You'll get rich and deep tones even if you don't have a receiver, but if you do, you now have options for your center to consider. 1) Just connect the center channel speaker wires and go (again, really, if you do this it probably isn't the center for you, but it will work) 2) Connect the wires as above and close Connect the included power cord to wires, power cord AND run an RCA cable from the receiver's subwoofer to it (LFE). You will need a Y-RCA cable or splitter to connect both your subwoofer and your new powered subwoofer centre! (Note: some rare receivers may have two subwoofer outputs). I have a massive Klipsch subwoofer that's perfect for my stash to "beat" music and movies, so I'm not plugging a cable into my CS9080 at this point. If you are able to set up the receiver properly, you can correctly set the center to "large" and not "small". You get incredible full-frequency vocals and off-center bass tones, but your subwoofer still does most of the work that way. I've also set the center crossover to 60Hz (default is 80Hz in most cases, THX spec) but I'm still tweaking and testing lower crossover settings. Control. You have options! Some people with DefTech speakers that have powered subwoofers built into the center and towers don't use a subwoofer, and depending on the setup and size of the room, this can be just plain amazing. (So you have a triple Y-shaped cable going left, right and center). This unit also has a manual level control, you'll probably leave this setting about halfway and have your receiver balance for you, but if you have a really big room or home theater you can use it to set and compensate for the receiver. I also thought my wife would be annoyed with the burning "D" on the front so I made sure we could turn it off as shown in the picture above. She really likes it. There's a lot to absorb and think about, tons of information on the web, but if and when you're looking to take your TV room to the next level, this hub won't disappoint.
