We have used them on the last few cars we have bought. (3) 2017 is only last year! We strategically stick the magnet high on the dashboard but below the field of vision so as not to obstruct the view of the road (e.g. suction cup mounts). My wife and I have several thin silicone phone cases and the adhesive pads stick to the inside of the case. Works so well I don't know why everyone is fiddling with those vent mounts or any other type of mounting system. That's really all you need!
