Review on πŸ”’ Premium 7-Piece Brass Paracord FID Lacing Needle Set for TACAMO Professionals by Amy Mcleod

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Solid brass feeds allow for easy reconfiguration with detachable, interchangeable extensions.

First of all, I have to say that I don't make paracord bracelets. I mainly work with large and very complex leather goods and sometimes I have to work with different types of rope for horses and marine animals. I have a pretty solid collection of marlin feeders and spikes of all sizes and materials from plastic to aluminium, marlin and even wood. Some of the feeds in my stack I made myself, others I bought. (I've been making this for decades now.) ;-) With that in mind, I can tell you that I know from experience that these TACAMO chucks are well made and well thought out!* Love that they're made from solid solid brass. - This virtually eliminates corrosion (if used in salt water, be sure to rinse with fresh water before drying and replacing in the case). - Brass is strong and does not break easily like aluminum, wood, plastic or some other materials. - The brass gives them a good weight which helps when you need to cast out the line to allow it to rotate to avoid line twists. - Brass always looks good! But seriously, you can smooth or polish brass fairly easily if you get unplanned dents. (I have already polished my set because for my use it needs to be almost mirror smooth to avoid scratching the thin leather I use.) Water when you first get it. When I finished smoothing mine I protected it with a thin coat of wax which also helps the lining slide through tight bites more easily. ;-) I love that they come with interchangeable extensions so you can adjust their length to suit your bite. I also think knurling on extensions can be really helpful, but they can also scratch your material if it goes through a particularly tight bite or knot. For this reason I would like them to include one for every smooth extension, but I also know that this would increase the cost. I might buy a second set and cut the knurling off to have a smooth set and a knurled set. Hm. I have to think about it. The leather case is a nice touch and helps keep the kit together. I just used these laces to tie a leather "lace" in a pair of my Sperry pumps, and they worked great for that too! Ok, this is my review, I hope at least one person finds it helpful I'll come back and update if I come across anything useful for this community.

Pros

Brass is a very soft metal don't use for heavy work or complicated wraps that can get tight. .
