This cover solved a stressful problem for us! My daughter has a couple of gerbils and our cat is VERY motivated to play with and/or eat them. He figured out how to open the cage's latches, he tried to push the whole cage off the table where he's standing, he tore the mesh cover. (Luckily gerbils have 9 lives, not cats!) I finally found this lid and it's just what we needed. The lid is very strong and can support the weight of a 15 lb cat jumping on it. The center hinge adds extra reinforcement to support its weight. It's tight enough that the cat can't open it (we also bought a set of locks for the lid, but we probably didn't need them). Now the cat can lie on the lid, watching the gerbils and still not fulfilling its dream of getting them. And I stopped worrying about how I would pay for the therapy my little girl would need if her beloved gerbils were eaten by a cat. Highly recommended!
