Useful learning tool

I would have preferred a simpler spray collar but this model is one of the few options without the auto bark feature that I didn't want. Nonetheless, I am very happy with this purchase. It comes with a receiver/nebulizer module and two cuffs per box. One collar is already attached and there are screws and a small screwdriver to attach the second collar to the module if it needs to be replaced. Both the receiver and the remote charged quickly and connecting the remote to the receiver module was easier than I expected. The sound is quite quiet, but the vibration is felt very strongly. I don't know if I'll use this feature, but I see it as an effective aversive stimulus in addition to or in place of the spray. When I tried it today with a tone it worked to stop my dog's unwanted behavior (he's already used to this type of collar so he knows what the tone means) but there was a problem. The receiver turns on and stays on, but the remote turns off after a period of time, meaning you have to turn it back on before hitting the button to give a boost. Therefore, there is a slight delay in the delivery of the stimulus, which can reduce its effectiveness. I understand that this feature is supposed to save battery power, but if the receiver module is always on, I don't understand why the remote control can't be turned on as well. The remote control is also larger and more complex than I need because it has three channels to work with three different receiver modules on three dogs. I can see the value for some people but I would prefer a simpler and less expensive version of this collar that only fits one dog. Overall this is a very good spray collar. UPDATE: I'm editing this review to report that after less than a week of use, the screws holding the collar to the receiver module came loose on one side and the collar fell off my dog. Luckily it wasn't lost as we were in a fenced off area and were able to find it. I reattached the collar with the extra screws in the box and tightened both sides and I think I'll have to tighten them after each use to make sure this doesn't happen again. I use this spray collar specifically to keep my dog from eating poop at the dog park (because unfortunately not everyone cleans up after their pet) so he wears it when playing with other dogs, but I still expect it to last longer than three or four days.

Pros
  • Remote control and large capacity
Cons
  • Almost never
