Sold as a kit but all kit components are useless for installation. The kit includes a socket pigtail that you screw into the socket on your existing bulb and then plug the new bulb into this adapter. However, this is redundant as you can simply take the caps from the existing lamp and connect the new lamp directly to the power source, eliminating two extra connections. Also included is a cap to cover an oversized hole in the ceiling. However, this cap is shaped in such a way that you cannot reach the set screw for the new bracket. Look at the photos and note the side angle, the set screw is hidden behind the wall of the ceiling cap. So I had to buy a $15 decorative case from Home Depot, about the same amount I paid for this kit. However, the presence of a conversion bracket certainly makes installing the light easier. It's just a very expensive mount.
