I suspect the reason you are here is because you have an aftermarket security system that can open your trunk and you don't have a stock had this capability and you want to add it. If yes then read on, if not this still works as a replacement for you and that's all you need to know. I bought it because I wanted to install a security system in my Toyota that didn't come with it. I had the Viper kit installed and after that I installed it myself as it would have cost too much for the amount of work. However, I've been thinking a lot, so I'll try to save you additional heartache and tell you how to connect it. . Aftermarket security systems for accessories such as the lock, unlock, trunk, etc. send or receive a ground signal. The trunk drive must be switched on by a +12V signal. I went through all the testing steps to figure out why and all I could figure out is that you need a relay to give each component the signal it needs. I know it sounds complicated, but it's actually easier than it looks. Sounds. The relay you need has four pins, two to turn on the coil and two to make the path to the actuator. I recommend you use the same terminal blocks that will work with the relays you get from your local auto zone. First you need to send a CONSTANT +12 VDC signal to the relay coil. You'll probably have to send it there, which sucks a bit, but it's not that hard. Walk from the fuse box or just plug it into the 12v socket next to the center console. Don't worry about your backups because this drive doesn't draw much power anyway. Route the cable along the door panel on the driver's side and through the small hole in the corner of the rear seat. Climb through the roof of your trunk and insert a wire between all of the other wires going to the trunk lid. Once you have done this, run ground from your security system's trunk signal to the coil's ground. This creates a path when you press the trunk button on your remote control. Once you've done all that, the rest will be easy. You short the clip you just created with +12 VDC to the contactor. The length of the cable must not be more than 6 inches. Once that is done, connect the remaining contactor to the +12v line of your vehicle's wiring harness. NOTE. I never like to cut factory wiring as it is permanent so I went to my local parts call department and got myself a wiring harness. on the cheap. I know you wanted it simpler, but since I'm assuming you have a lower trim Camry, you didn't have a trunk feature from the factory. Once that's done, make sure your connections are tight and you're done. This will only open the trunk. So if you want it to open almost completely, you can use a YouTube bungee cord trunk opener or something similar. This is a mod that opens your trunk almost completely. I've had mine for years now and it works for me until you get super cheap bungee cords.
