I recently bought a second unit. I am very satisfied with the performance of the 3-5364B cassette player. What I like about this recorder is that it supports full size cassettes to play on the car cassette player. This is good if you are weird like me and want to read for yourself and listen to your homemade audiobook in the car while driving. I also use it to record my phone messages before deleting them because I might like the sound of her voice and because future kids might want to know what their grandma sounded like. I also liked that it fits so well in the hand. It has a headphone jack so if you want to listen to an audio book and you have the RIGHT power adapter (3V) you can go to bed with your favorite book. Don't expect Dolby noise cancellation and stereo sound from this guy. It's very easy. My first was VERY good on batteries. I've had it for over a year and haven't changed the batteries since I bought it. I used Duracell Alkaline AA. The same batteries are now in my new one and they work perfectly. Variable speed playback seems like a useless feature as it has a fast forward button that works better. The microphone has two sensitivities: low and high. It has a pause which I think works better than the STOP button. Again, my use of the recorder is pretty basic, so I rarely use these features. I think there is a design flaw. When inserting the cassette, remember that the side you see through the window is the side you are playing on. If you look at the device like this, the buttons are located under the window facing you. It's fine as long as you stick strictly to the icons on the rewind, play, fast-forward, and so on buttons. However, you will quickly find that the labels on the buttons are reversed when you use it this way! This could have been disastrous if you hadn't noticed and flipped the recorder, fast forward instead of fast forward! They really need to fix this when they make a new model. I mentioned this is the second one I've bought. I will explain what happened to the first one. The first died in an accident. I fried it with alternating current. Adapter for my desktop shredder. Potential buyers should be aware that this little recorder doesn't come with its own power supply. In and of itself I didn't really care as I've used mine for over a year and never needed it. Just ONCE I was going to put my batteries to bed with a new relaxation band that a friend sent me and I figured I could use one of the myriad portable CD player adapters I have lying around, but the adapter's shape fits all were different enough not to work. Except one. The one for my grinder was the right shape but unfortunately the wrong tension! Ouch! Lesson: Make sure the adapter is set to 3 volts and not higher! Not knowing if I could revive the old one, I just bought another one as it stopped working due to my fault. It can also be noted that both recorders cost approximately twenty percent less than what they are sold on Revain.com. I hope this is helpful.
