Review on πŸ“€ Panasonic DVD-S27S Silver Progressive Scan DVD Player: High-Quality Viewing Experience by Dev Gotoda

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Let's go to Panasonic!

I recently bought my first DVD player. Close friends (whose opinions I trust) warned me about all the dangers and problems with DVD players and discs. The decline in availability of the new VHS product forced me to purchase a DVD player (Toshiba SD-3960). I did my homework online; Toshiba scored highly, with the player in question reporting that it "plays all types of DVDs: R, Rams, etc." BULL! I soon discovered a problem with image discs. I bought 2 Image DVDs, both were heavily pixelated. Assuming (naively) that the discs were defective, I sent them back. I bought 2 more discs from Image that had the SAME PROBLEM! I then received a class action lawsuit against Toshiba for DVD issues such as skipping, pixelation (!), subtitles appearing randomly, etc. Toshiba told me there was nothing to do but "live with the problem". So I gave away my Toshiba and bought a Panasonic (S27S); it played ALL the discs in question and outperformed the Toshiba on all levels! Choose Panasonic for price and quality and avoid Toshiba at all costs!

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
