Review on πŸ”‹ AquaTech Hydro-Sponge Filter by Faye Wright

Clean water cheap!

I recently reviewed another smaller sponge filter here. Sponge filters are AMAZING for your aquarium. The only downsides I can find are that they aren't pretty and they can't hold a lot of big stuff. To remedy this, you can hide it behind plants and decorations at any time and operate it with your power filter at any time for even more cleaning power. These things are a godsend for any aquarium. I recommend getting 2 for each tank. That way, if you ever need to quarantine your fish, you'll already have another filter with good bacteria, not a new one. This filter keeps the water in my 20 gallon tank clean. It gets rid of the tannin of the mopani tree quickly so I don't have to soak it for 2 months. They are incredibly easy to clean. Simply fill a large bowl with used aquarium water, rinse and wring out a few times. Never run or wash under tap water or you will get rid of all the good bacteria you were trying to colonize. The price for them is very good. There are more expensive brands but these work just as well. Sponges can last for years. You can buy extra sponges, but I don't think you'll need them for long. They are also very suitable if you breed fish or feed them with live food. Juvenile fish, Artemia or other small invertebrates are not drawn in! It's very quiet and adds oxygen to your tank. Setup is very easy. There are many Youtube videos showing how to do this, although this video has instructions that are easy to follow. All you need is a small air pump, an air stone, and an air hose, but almost every fish lover has these items on hand anyway. If you don't have them, you can get them all for less than $20 here. These filters are too cool not to have in your aquarium. I recommend getting a pair for each tank as soon as possible! You won't regret it, I promise!
