Review on Dorman Solutions 425 366 Lower Steering by Robert Sorrells

Worked in my 2012 Expedition EL

Worked great when replaced in my 2012 Expedition EL. I've sprayed the U-joints several times over the last few months and it wasn't enough to free the steering. I looked around for Motorcraft OEM prices and then found a cheaper Dorman with prime shipping. I recommend soaking the PB Blaster bolts and couplers before removing them (things should be really rusty if you live in northern states that like to drive on the road). Salt). Like others, I inserted a hardened chisel into the gaps at the ends to widen them a bit and make installation easier. Also, when I turned the steering wheel to access the screws, I made sure the bottom screw was facing the front of the car. Then, with a very long extension, I was able to get to the 10mm bolt head in front next to the lower radiator hose. There isn't enough space underneath. Finally, having a long hardened rock drill bit (about 12 inches) will help when trying to move the top link away from the steering wheel and the lower link away from the power steering rack and pinion assembly. It won't help. Come with bolts so either buy new ones or blast your old ones with a PB blaster before removing them so you don't break the original bolts (yes the bolt heads have different metric socket sizes). I reused my original bolts after I she had cleaned with a metal brush and applied Permatex Anti-Seize lubricant to the threads of the screws before reinstalling them.

Pros
  • Precision Fit - This steering shaft is designed to tight tolerances to directly replace the stock shaft on certain vehicle years, makes and models
Cons
  • Some faults
