Good repair tool, with some drawbacks

I've known about Sugru for a while but didn't have an app for it until recently. My Suunto strap broke and I could either try to fix it or buy a new Suunto strap and a set of straps (the smaller strap is not sold separately). Since the Sugru was cheaper than the new Suunto strap, I gave it a try. I wrapped the Sugru around the original tape and let it dry for 24 hours. It worked fine and I haven't had any problems with it since. Although the band is still broken, Sugru is attached to it, holding the band in place over the band. I would recommend the Sugru for a variety of repairs, but it's not perfect. Here's my take on Sugru's strengths and weaknesses. Pros: * Easy to work with * Strong and durable * Many uses * Available in a variety of colors Cons: * Short shelf life. Depending on how you store it, Sugru has a shelf life of up to 6 months unopened. This makes it difficult to purchase the right amount of Sugru for your application. Ever since I had my watch repaired, I've been looking for other things to fix. Although I've found a few others, I don't know if I'll end up using all of them, meaning it's wasted. * The remaining Sugra cannot be saved. Once you open the packaging, you should be able to fully use Sugru. * Expensive. This is especially true if you're wasting some of the credit due to missing projects.* Harder than you think. Many of the suggested use cases mean you can add Sugru to the bars and grips to provide dampening. However, the cured Sugrou is quite harsh and ineffective. It's good for some situations (fastening a watch band), but not so good for others (softening the inside of the scissor handle).* Heavier than you think. The Suguru is quite dense, so repairing it will make it noticeably heavier. I particularly noticed this when I used it to seal the cords of headphones that I've repaired (cables resoldered). * Not sticky or "tacky". I applied some leftover Sugru to the bottom of the USB hub, thinking it would help keep the hub from sliding, but it didn't have much of an effect. So far I've used Sugru for: * Repairing a watch strap (effective with Sugru). * Inside scissor handle "lay" (damping didn't work) * Provide padding under the glass top (worked very well) * Seal repaired headphone's cable (effective seal, but significant weight and stiffness) * Avoid breaking the old USB iPhone connector (worked fine)

Cons
