The kit included a microphone which I didn't expect. but it's a bit omnidirectional, so feedback takes center stage if your use case involves louder than a speaking voice outside the mask. The ATM75 Headset Microphone allows you to speak loudly beyond the dome of silence with just one AA, which the ATM75 requires to power it. The microphone connector supplies power to a plug-in module for electret microphones. The downside is that after about 6 hours the output volume drops a bit and is no longer clear enough. Unless you use a mic preamp like the MM-1 audio gear and a line level output. Also, constantly adjust the volume to the battery level. I work 12 hour shifts so I either have to turn my device off to save money or switch to a second device in the middle of the shift. Or use a preamp that weighs more than all else combined. I lean towards the table/car and grab things and the reflection from the table to the mic triggers feedback. Even with a highly directional microphone like the ATM75 and a relatively low device output level. It comes with a strap that can be worn as a necklace. And that's enough for the device, although other things like battery boxes, mic preamps are added and it quickly becomes impractical. Even the heavy cables stretched across it can have enough weight to make it less than ideal. I wish it had two straps so one could be wrapped around the waist so it doesn't wobble when you move or bend over. But there's nothing an old shoelace can't fix.
