Makita 9005B Setup

This review is for the installation not the function of the Raizi product as it seems to work for some brands/models of grinders. I have a Makita 9005B grinder and also a Makita brand dust cover for this grinder. So I had the opportunity to compare both cases. As you would expect, the Makita's shroud has a vise grip like a glove (see photo; 1st photo is Raizi). When I installed Raizi, my tech spider senses fluttered. It was wobbly and didn't mate well with the four hex head screws at the base of the gear case. It's a bit tricky to snugly fit these screws while trying to align the exhaust port. Also, you need to lock the sheath with the thumb lever. This is a repetitive effort; Be sure to tighten the locknut enough each time you try. Model 9005B has an inner flange with a notch (notch) that engages the spindle. Typically, the cup wheels are pressed against the flange so that the spindle, flange, wheel and locknut move as a unit and provide torque for operation. The Raizi housing is offset from the gear housing so far that the flange cannot engage in the spindle. So you only rely on a tightened lock nut to drive the wheel. It is possible that the lock nut is overtightened or the grinding wheel is loosened during operation by undertightening. The grinder moves a lot during the grinding process. This movement and the connected vacuum hose exert a great deal of force on the housing. I could see this Raizi cover detaching from the 9005B over several long hours of use. However, it looks well made.
