Review on GIGABYTE G32QC Monitor: 165Hz 1440P Curved Screen with FreeSync, Height & Tilt Adjustment, Blue Light Filter - G32QC A-SA by Bryan Aveiga

Suitable for older gamers.

I rarely write reviews but thought I'd give this monitor a different perspective in case anyone else is in my boat. This is a review of the G32QC A. I used to play a lot of choppy FPS games (based on the Quake engine) at a higher level. However, after 40 years, finding a solution to the problem of near-field vision loss has become a difficult task. My eyes don't focus as well as they used to and I'm on the road to reading glasses like everyone else this age. I wanted to buy a good monitor because I missed old high refresh rate CRTs. I tried 27-inch QHD screens, but even at 125 percent magnification, the text was too small. I would have to zoom in to 150%, which makes the monitor functionally smaller than a 1080p screen. 32 inches seems to be the sweet spot. You get a higher PPI than a 1080p monitor (fonts are less jagged) and a functional resolution of 2052 pixels wide at 32 inches when you zoom in at 125%. So it's essentially a huge 1080p monitor with no obvious flaws. In my opinion, the G32C A is currently the best choice for your 32-inch monitor. Colors are good, it's fast for a VA panel (I was afraid I'd have to use a VA panel due to previous monitors with blurring issues). Plus, it's bright enough for HDR to really work. I bought mine for $279 and I feel like I got a good deal. Some things to note: I can't get mine to run above 120Hz with HDR and Freesync enabled on Windows. I have an older graphics card (R9 380X), so maybe. To be honest 120Hz is good enough for most things I do. Most monitors in this price range don't support Freesync and HDR at the same time, so Freesync Premium Pro is a big selling point. On Linux it works fine at 165 Hz. TlDR: Buy this if you want a fast VA panel with working HDR at a good price in a 32" form factor.
