I bought this to use as a Google Assistant speaker on my Raspberry Pi 4 with Respeaker 2 mic HAT. I wanted to connect a base 3.5mm speaker but I didn't want it to work. First I tried using headphones with a very long cable and maximum volume and it worked, but the Raspberry Pi started overheating. I tried this JST based speaker and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. It's clear and loud enough to call me when I'm talking to someone else. The temperature readings remained normal. Since it comes with two, I'll have an extra speaker if I decide to get a mic array for my Raspberry Pi 3! Many thanks to Shivasiddharth's GassistPi Github project for allowing me to use my Raspberry Pi as a Google Assistant device. The only downside is that it doesn't play Spotify or other DRM music, but it lets me control my smart home with my voice, which is more than enough.
