the box was good. As soon as I pulled the amp out I heard a rattling noise, a screw floating inside the amp. Bad sign. I plug it in, turn on the music and the sound is quieter than in headphones where there is no bass at all. I had to reinsert the tubes, after which he made a noise. Good sound, amazing amount of bass. I'm trying to convince myself it's worth $500. Amplifiers aren't cheap, are they? I've been using the SMLS SA50 for years now, I think it was $65 back then. Does this amp sound 10 times better? No, but $500 is pretty cheap for an integrated tube amp. I've shopped quite a bit. The sound of this tube amp is more tonal than that of a class D amp. There isn't much power, I don't have to turn the class D amps past 30%, I can turn this A12 on fully. I've been looking at Decware amps that have a lifetime warranty and are made in the USA. Twice as expensive.
