to start with - I used to have one of the solar radiant heaters and used it at max power every night for 2 years before finally stopping heating the power . I never got the dreaded "f2" error, even after washing the thing a million times. how many bad reviews I see about this product say it's "too heavy" or that "wires can be felt through the fabric" or something like that. Unlike the little heating pads you can use on your body, electric blankets have REAL tangible wires. They are a bit stiff, heavy and uncomfortable compared to a regular blanket. it's just something to expect. You WANT to feel the wires inside because that literally keeps you warm, and the more fabric there is between you and those wires, the less heat you'll actually feel. Another thing I see is people complaining that this blanket is "unsafe" for seniors or pets and whatnot — when you actually read the warning labels on both the product packaging and the blanket itself, they say : DO NOT give this blanket to people with disabilities. This includes the elderly, couples/quadriplegics, infants/toddlers, pets, anyone who may have difficulty escaping if the blanket catches fire or the like. Nevertheless, here are the pros and cons of the product: Pros: - very soft - on the light side for a giant blanket - has 10 different temperature settings (if you just want to warm up a little or if you are like me and handy on the 8 settings/ 9) - turns off automatically after 10 hours in case you forget to turn it off - insulates heat well - not inconvenient for using at night in a warmer weather location (I live in Texas. it's hot.) - color in real life matches the photo pattern for the quilt. Cons: - it takes a while to start heating up (about 10-20 minutes just to warm up) but I think that's because it's big - it sheds a lot of red fluffy bits - the Fabric will feel dull after a few weeks of use - gets dirty fairly easily (do not eat or do anything dirty nearby), finally please note this is a full size blanket and is not to be thrown. it is big. very large. it should lie on the bed; he is not mobile at all. If you're looking for something that you can easily move from room to room, try one of the sunbeam throws instead.
