Review on 🔧 ACDelco GM OEM 12608580 Timing Chain Tensioner Kit + Seal by Anthony Robichaud

My 2005 Malibu had excessive timing chain rattle, especially when starting. This redesigned part works much better. It's very quiet now. There is a heated debate about the installation method. Nobody recommends activating the tensioner before installation. Most recommend removing the valve cover and tapping it to activate it from the top with a blunt object long and thin enough to fit against the chain guide there. The plastic part of the chain guide broke. It was hard to tell if it was enabled during install (easy if it wasn't). So I had to completely replace the timing chain. Some installed it and left it dormant, hoping for a chance the chain wouldn't slip and the engine would flex all the valves.
