The shoes arrived well packaged. Came in a sealed plastic bag with no box. I didn't notice any chemical smell when I opened it. They were true to size and the medium width fitted perfectly. The dark blue color matched the image on the website. The velcro was strong but opened and closed easily. It was easy for my 8 year old to put on and take off these shoes. The shoes were light and my son said they were comfortable. The sole has good grip and does not leave dark marks on the ground. The relatively low rating of this shoe is due to its lack of durability. After 4-5 uses the rubber toe cap started to peel off. Within 2 months of wearing this shoe, the upper detached from the bottom of the sole, creating a large hole in the big toe. They had to be thrown in the trash. While they worked well initially, a pair of shoes that last less than 2 months should be priced at around $10, not triple. I will not buy this brand again.
