Review on Infrared Thermometer Extech IRT25 - 12:1 with Audible Alarm by Jose Miller

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Previously a good IR thermometer but not for current models

This is the second Extech instrument I have ordered in 3 years. I now wanted to buy a new one as I felt the first one was about to break suddenly. Unfortunately, while this 2017 handset looks exactly like the previous one except for the exterior color, the build quality was immediately reduced due to the overall weight and feel of the buttons. No wonder, then, that the red aiming laser stopped working completely after only 3 days and the screen began to flicker noticeably with almost every second measurement. All in all I will keep using the old one until I find a better replacement for the brand's IR thermometer as these new Extechs are just plain poor quality period.

Pros
  • Bright white backlight illuminates display for readings at night or in areas with low ambient light
Cons
  • not reliable
