Works well I hate holding the temp reading

What I don't like about it is that it stores your measurements and you can't remove it unless you look at the instructions , they should get rid of this feature or make it easier to clear previous readings, I just want to press one button and take readings

    Pros
    • Very impressive

    • Cable is shorter than others

    Essential kitchen tool

It's bigger than others I've used but it does the job. I use it in the kitchen to check the temperature of the pan and the food. I'm not sure why this isn't a more popular kitchen gadget. I don't know how to use it for checking meat temp and such, but it's perfect for making sure your pan is ready for whatever you put in it. No more guesswork.

Revised review in Test, Measure & Inspect

Doesn't seem entirely accurate at first but gets better after some use. I swapped out the batteries for Duracell and figured you need to swap them out to look for high or low where you're aiming, now it seems pretty accurate. It was the cheapest so I think there are better options but after using it for a while it seems ok. There were no instructions included.

More useful than you can imagine!

Really great for checking the temperature of everything, vents, food, BBQ grills when you're cooking. Check the attic to see if it's too hot etc. Really good for parents with young children taking their kids to the park. You can check the temperature of the slide or swing fast. Yes, there are many parks that now only have plastic slides and jungle gyms, but those plastic slides also get hot and don't even think about a metal slide! Ouch!

    Pros
    • Decent performance
    Cons
    • Really don't like it, everything's fine

    Useful Laser Guided Tool

As a low cost gauge, this is ideal for the average user. I will never use a meter without a laser pointer again. In addition, I have used the laser in this device to point out structural elements on buildings, to tire the dog out in the evening (she chases the beam) and to present a power point report. Ideal for use in the kitchen, detects indoor hot/cold spots. Rooms with ventilation/insulation problems, as well as monitoring the surface and cavity of a computer or car.

Best $5 I've ever spent on anything.

I bought this infrared thermometer irt25 in 2018 and have been using it once a week to 7 days a week ever since and it still works great it seems to last longer on two doubles And than another Infrared sensor for $60. Thermometers that run on 9-volt batteries and measure high and low temperatures, like this one. When I'm not using a backlit LCD or laser, it lasts a month with daily use, amazing. I just would like to know that I would never have found a similar $5 product when they offered it, I

    • Nice packaging

Can't complain about that at all. I needed an inexpensive way to prove to my IT department that my laptop was overheating (I work remotely) and this worked. Like most people with a new gadget, I spent the first day checking the temperature of all sorts of random things and this device is holding up well. I now have reference skin temps for myself, dogs, guinea pigs and a bunch of other useless stuff. It's amazing how hot some things get and how quickly the refrigerator quiets down with the door

Used to be a good IR thermometer but not for current builds

This is the second Extech I have ordered in 3 years. I now wanted to buy a new one as I felt the first one was about to break suddenly. Unfortunately, while this 2017 handset looks the same as the previous one, save for the exterior color, the drop in quality was immediately felt due to the overall weight and feel of the buttons. No wonder, then, that the red aiming laser stopped working completely after only 3 days and the screen began to flicker noticeably with almost every second…
