Reliable Manufacturer in a Compact Form Factor

I've outgrown my SMC Barricade router and decided to expand my network with a 16-port Gigabit switch. I originally wanted to use a Linksys switch, but the reviews were generally poor, reporting a very high failure rate. I wanted to take the time to set it up and forget about it and although I've been using it for less than 24 hours it works well and is easy to set up. I think the documentation is pretty clear, but if you're not tech savvy you'll have trouble defining some of the extra features. One feature I like is that the ports automatically detect if the cable is crossed or straight, like a more expensive switch. You can't control this switch by putting the ports in the configured state (auto-sensing or manual), but that would be overkill for me. My setup is an Apple Time Capsule (version 1) as router and wifi. I'm using a straight cable to connect a D-Link switch to a Time Capsule, both of which are gigabit. fits perfectly. I can only hope that the reliability is better than Linksys, but based on all the user reviews I read during my research, this is the device of choice. Hope that helps! A NOTICE. I'm revising this review after using the switch for a few months now. Absolutely no problems despite making changes to my network. The only thing I would like to add to my original review is that the Switch's fan is a bit noisy. If you decide to put it in your office, remember that the fan is always on and you can hear it. That remark aside, I would still recommend this switch.
