Some features don't reach their full potential

I'm a teacher with 15 years experience and have been using AVer products in my classroom for a long time so I was interested to see how technology has evolved and I will Still teaching online next year so I was excited to give it a try. Advantages: - Shape and design. This style of folding camera is definitely a huge improvement over the gooseneck on brick we used at my old school. It takes up a lot less space on my desk and is easier to arrange. I just wish I could elevate the camera a bit higher for larger pages. - Can be easily connected directly to the screen for overhead mode. If you're in a classroom, boardroom, or anywhere else, you can connect your display directly as an HDMI input and skip the computer entirely. This is the perfect use of the memory card slot - record live presentations while connected to a projector or TV (but not a computer). - Zoom and rotate buttons. The hardware autofocus button works great too. - Camera light. Being able to see documents better even in a normally lit room is of great importance. Cons: - The AVer software (AVer Touch) is still absolute rubbish. So I used my camera along with Manycam. Another reviewer recommended OBS. If you don't want to or can't use the Studio software, AVer works fine, but it still consumes a lot of resources without much yield. If you're looking for a document camera that makes it easy to scan documents on your computer, look no further. There is no AVer software for that. You can do this yourself using imaging software on your computer (it's easier on a PC than a Mac). But there are cameras designed for this purpose - this is not one of them. Noticeable input lag. If you're looking at the screen while typing in your document, there's a disconcerting lag between what you're writing and when it appears on the screen. So when you're giving a presentation, you need to take your eyes off the webcam and look at the document (which doesn't always look good in a presentation). Ultra High Definition didn't work for me on this camera (connected before M1 Mac Mini). It might have been software related - AVer Touch crashed and my camera completely restarted when I tried to enable this in AVer Touch. Conclusion: For the price you could do better or worse. If you submit a lot of documents (or are a math teacher!), this tool could be of great value to you. If you need something like this "just sometimes", put a regular webcam on a pole and close it for a third of the price.
