They are good for what most people would use them for

They are fine. They're quite bright, not as bright as I expected, but I think that's because they're more "flooded" and scattering too much light instead of concentrating it where I want the light to be. If they are 30 degrees like others say (vs. 60 degrees for a tide) to me it's not a 'spot' but still a tide (i.e. narrow tide vs. wide tide). They would make great reverse lights, but they don't illuminate things too far ahead. They're sealed devices, so the lenses are permanently bonded, and it's impossible to open one of them, most likely without destroying them. That. So if one or more individual chips fail, they cannot be repaired or replaced. If I had known that, I don't think I would have gotten them. The fastening material also leaves a lot to be desired. The 2 screws that attach the bracket to the lantern are too long. You'll need a couple of washers (preferably a lock washer or two!) to keep them from being screwed in too deep and touching the body of the light. As they are, they will sink and remain free. In addition (!) the supplied nuts are too small and twist when tightening the screws. Maybe 1mm more and it's "captive screws" and you'll be fine, but as it is you'll need to wedge a small screwdriver blade in to hold the nut in place while tightening or they'll just spin . As for the mounting bracket itself, I'm afraid the rather flat tabs are supposed to hold the hex bolt in place, if you just over tighten the tabs will "rip off" and end up spinning. I haven't installed them yet, but I'll be careful! Looks like I'm picking on them, but when you see what I see around here quite often, which is high beam headlights with broken lenses pointing at the pavement etc, you might not care if they're condensing inside or not You end up with 2 out of 6 LEDs working. I used to take narrow high beam headlights with industrial mounts and spend half an hour aiming them at a building in a parking lot, so yeah, I'm picky. :)

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • I have nothing I don't like, everything is fine
