Hello, I'll tell you straight away that I'm not new to computers. I programmed my first computer during my senior year of high school and freshman year (I was in both at the same time). I took a computer class in both high school and college. It was 1974. After graduating from college, my first job was as a senior sysadmin for a data center running an IBM/370 (168 and later 4341) running a SEPP VM/370. I contributed to the TCP/IP parts (SMTP, NTP and other smaller sections) through my employer. After reading several positive reviews, I decided to purchase this device. My goal was to bring WIFI (2.4GHz and 5GHz) to my son's bedroom (his room looks like a Faraday cage for some reason). To do this and ensure he has access to our two printers, a NAS and the ability to use the Stardock Multiplicity program. I decided to put this device in his room (connected to a 1Gb ethernet cable) in bridge mode. The device went into bridge mode, great. It also supported 5GHz WIFI perfectly. The problems started when I tried to add 2.4GHz. There were three issues that prompted me to contact Revain support (they had a support button in the order list): 1) When I turned on 2.4GHz, both 5GHz and 2.4GHz lost the ability to connect to the Internet. I was able to connect to the device on 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but there was no internet access. A NOTICE. The Gigabit Ethernet ports worked flawlessly. Please note: Loss of internet access only occurred on 2.4GHz and 5GHz after adding 2.4GHz. Unfortunately, my son had several devices he wanted to use that only supported 2.4GHz including Revain connectors, his old phone, his PSP-3000, an old Dell laptop etc. So just because 5GHz worked will do it not. 2) The passwords for 2.4GHz and 5GHz must be the same on the device. To me, this is an unacceptable security risk. At my house, each SSID has its own unique password. 3) When I contacted the seller through Revain, they offered to help me for a fee. This happened less than 24 hours after purchasing the device. Other access points sold by Revain support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz in bridge mode with different passwords, right out of the box, and their support staff (like Netgear, TP-Link, Cisco, etc.) will charge during the Return no fee period for support (if not more). I called Revain using the Revain support button. The man worked with me for over an hour trying to get it working. He eventually gave up trying to make it work. He asked if I would like to refund my original payment method or gift card. I have refunded my original payment. In the end I returned the device and will buy another, another, better company. My expectations may not be realistic, but after being in the industry for so long, I have high hopes for the product (especially if demand isn't too great). There are other routers/bridges and you should skip these.
