I've seen reviews about it opening too easily. Mine also. The reason is that the teeth get caught on the strap and there is one way to pull it through that is much easier than the other. If it loosens too easily, it will not be possible to tighten it without raising your teeth. Here's what you need to do: remove the tape by lifting the teeth and pulling out. Take the same ribbon and pass it through the tooth hole on the other side so it goes in the opposite direction. This allows you to tighten it easily, but you have to lift your teeth to loosen it. This will ensure it doesn't dangle while your dog pulls on it. Do the same for the other side if it needs it, which both of my did. I'm not sure why they ship it like this but I took off a star because a lot of people probably don't check it or probably don't know how to fix it and it's dangerous. I hope my case is rare. Even after the repair it works great and my dog loves being in my truck bed. I use a harness instead of a collar so it doesn't tighten around his neck while riding.
