it really changed the flavor profile of my cold drink. BUT, that could either be because I added more coffee grounds, or because I've only used 75 micron nut bags before, and there's a reason I don't know what that type of filter is. Compared with the nut bag will be better. give you a different profile (personally I think it's the amount of coffee grounds). What shocked me the most about this product is that there is very little sediment left at the bottom of the stone jar. My process is to coarsely grind about 4 ounces of coffee (this made 5) and place it in this (or nut bag) 1/2 gallon. Ceramic tableware. I let it steep for about 24 hours, give or take a few. I always buy smaller micron bags (I'm on my third and it's a 75 micron nut bag). 75 microns leaves a little more sediment at the bottom of the can than this product, but I've only used this product once. If further brews show that it's the filter and not the amount of grind in the filter, this causes a change in flavor profile (loss of chocolate notes), I'll get back to that and let you know. I think the bag of nuts leaves more mucus because it gets pushed out on the way through the bottle's smaller (wide-necked) neck. But the bag of nuts gives these beans (Mayorga Organic Uganda by Costco) a nice mild chocolate flavor that I love. However, be careful when using this filter! It's MUCH more fragile than a bag of nuts hence 4 stars not 5 stars. I'm pretty sure it won't last as long as my bag of nuts.
