Review on πŸ“€ Optimized 9-inch Portable DVD Player (DS9521PK) by John Stowers

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I will not buy it again.

I was a bit skeptical after reading such mixed reviews. We have used ours intermittently during a week long holiday trip with no problems. I watched DVDs both in the car and indoors on the table. The quality is good and there is no problem of poor audio quality between 3 different discs as mentioned by others. The car mount seems secure and works well. Installed on the seat of an SUV (Toyota Highlander), the device is out of the reach of children's hands and feet. Once installed, you cannot replace the DVD without removing it from the holder to access the DVD door. This isn't a problem if you have a second pair of hands to help you while driving. The remote works well and is easy to use to start/stop and adjust the volume while driving. Our player came with two pairs of full size headphones, not the headphones that others have received. So far so good and a big help to soothe little one while he's out for hours. UPDATE About 18 months later the DVD door hinge broke and because the door was not kept closed the DVD would not play. A bit of creativity and engineering fixed the problem, but without that it would be garbage. Second, the DVD grommet started chafing the back of the DVD and quickly ruined a few of them. Corrected creatively again. Finally, one day "no disc" just didn't show up. Whatever I try, it won't work. Value? 2.5 years of occasional use for $100. I will not buy it again.
