I purchased a 31" black antenna to replace the 35" silver antenna that came with my new 2019 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I really didn't like the look of the factory silver as my JL Granite is Crystal Metallic and has mostly black exterior trim pieces instead of silver. The 31" black antenna is 4" shorter than the factory silver one. As you can see from my photos, the 31" black antenna is still slightly above the roofline (the hardtop plane is just a before and after reference point). I've also included a photo showing what it looks like at the joint. It came with the required male threads on the 31" black antenna and it was very quick to remove the old one and install the new one. I used a 3/8" open-end wrench to remove the silver factory antenna and I used an adjustable wrench to install a new one - the new antenna could not be installed with the same 3/8" open-end wrench, because it is a different device. the size. I temporarily covered the underside of the black antenna mast with blue tape during the installation of the 31" black antenna to prevent scratches and it worked fine. I checked several local HD radio stations before and after and found no signal loss. The signal strength seems to have been exactly the same, but I benefit from the black antenna, which goes much better with the trim color of my Jeep. Very happy with this purchase. That's what Jeep should have installed from the factory, not a silver antenna. Update 1/14/20: I've been using this antenna for a few months now and haven't experienced any signal loss on any of my local radio stations with and without HD. So far very happy with this purchase.
