Review on 🌞 Dr.meter LX1010B: High-precision Digital Illuminance/Light Meter, Measure 0-100,000 Lux Luxmeter by Tray Smith

Handy and accurate light meter - very useful range

This light meter is amazing. I use it to check light levels because I'm incredibly sensitive to light (it's a medical condition). Being able to measure the full range of light from a dim lamp to bright sunlight is great. The meter is accurate over the entire range, although it cuts out at the peak of sunlight (full noon - clear California skies). For the average person (me) it doesn't matter. But the meter helps me figure out when I need permanent curtains as the light changes throughout the year. I also collect houseplants and checking the lighting conditions and placing the plants accordingly is amazing. The meter is very sensitive, if I need another 10 lux of light then it fucking finds a point. To get stable readings, you need to place the meter on something solid. This can affect readings as there is a lux difference between table height and floor height in low light. I didn't do this, but when setting up the lighting it helps a lot to place the lamps so they get even lighting. I don't even try to use it for photography. You can, but until you're done converting it to make it a light meter, I put the camera in auto mode and let go. I keep it with the battery out of the light meter. It's too easy to forget to turn it off. It has 3 settings to define low, medium and high (full sunlight) light levels. Try to leave the setting in full sunlight, then switch to other levels as needed. This helps protect the meter. Domestic use: Checking the light level indoors for accent lighting Checking the light level for plants Very cumbersome for (and not intended for) photography Price is surprisingly affordable. If I had known what I would have bought many years ago. Wishlist: It would be great if there could be accurate readings in hand. It would be even nicer if he could control the overall light over time. How many hours of sunlight did this point receive and what was the intensity in each unit of time? Plant lovers will love this. It would also be convenient to place solar panels.
