We have a 9 year old who has never skateboarded. He's very athletic, but I was still a bit worried that he might get injured. He's had the board for a week and carries it everywhere and randomly disappears to ride during the day. Trucks (?) are very flexible. My brother even offered to tighten them because he said they had a lot of wiggle room. I thought he might find the glowing wheels too childish, but he thought they were really cool. They seemed to increase his interest in the board. Of course, he fell a few times, but with no injuries, and jumped back onto the board. The pads are very small and light. They have a gasket, but they just look cheap. He wears no pads. They would certainly help if he did, but I can't comment on how effective they are. It's a bit odd that they're black and red when there's no red on the board, but I don't know many kids who skateboard and make sure the pads match. Nice solid board. Aged 12, 11 and 9 he hasn't broken or cracked yet so I'd give him points for toughness as these guys are outdoor destructobots. Please click the button if this information was helpful.
