Not everyone can afford a $300-$500 vehicle compass. This compass has declination adjustments, a good circular bubble and a horizontal bubble for degrees and for use with an inclinometer. The compass comes with a small thread that can be used with a plumb bob or a route drawn on a topographical map. The main lens is made of glass and the body is made of metal with brass inserts for the needle damping piston. The long centering piece for the north is attached with screws and a metal flange. The mirror and oil pipe are attached to the main body with bolts and a metal flange. The tilt screw is very smooth and easy to use. The rear tilt adjustment lever is very easy to use. There are slots on the sides for attachment to a monopod or tripod. All in all, this is a solid tool that's built for years of use. Like anything, it becomes junk or fish waste if not used for its intended purpose.
