First off, I want to say that I work the hammer harder than most frame builders. I build commercial frame buildings and have had no luck being able to use 8's and 16's. I usually rock 20d, 40d and 60d rings. The "hit plate" shown in the picture is not what appears on the hammer. The picture shows it bolted front to back and what came up on my hammer was just two cheap rivets on the side. Needless to say, after missing a few hangnails. It broke and the fuse plate fell off. I put a few screws in and screwed everything in and the hammer has been great ever since. The hammer is very well balanced but feels a bit heavier than the 22oz. The fiber orientation in my pen is about 75 degrees, so I'm either very lucky or they actually send good quality pens. The handle is obviously shaped like a hand as they are very tight but not quite symmetrical, they even went so far as to give it a slight deer leg which is very nice. The head sits very well on the handle and you can tell that attention was paid to a tight fit. Overall this has been a great hammer so far, I just wish they had a better way of attaching the striker plate to the hammer at the factory.
