This lens came in handy almost immediately upon arrival, documenting every room in our new home and our son's new home. Either way, it was able to cover a much wider field of view than the standard 24-70mm kit lens, which is great, although this lens can serve other purposes as well. There were concerns about sharpness variations around the corners with this lens, but I'm fine with that. Sharpness at all angles, even at the widest position. Despite the wide field of view, it doesn't have any other obvious lens flaws, even in harsh environments like landscape photos where you're staring directly at the sun. (Reduce the speed to a small aperture so the sun's rays show up best in these shots.) Straight lines look straight, with no barrel or pincushion distortion. At night without a tripod. Again, when not in use it's as compact as my 24-70mm F4 and 50mm F1.8 S lenses, allowing them all to easily fit in my 10 liter bag. Users looking for a brighter aperture for purposes like astrophotography may have to wait for the promised future wide-angle alternative lenses, but for me this 14-30mm F4 S really does a great job of meeting my wide-angle needs. I recommend!
