I bought "KAYTEE POTTY LITTER 16 oz" for my sons, 2 pet rats. I read a few reviews/comments and took some advice: First, THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES FOR SALE, I BUY A 16 OUN because it was better for rats, and DIFFERENT THAN THE 8 POUND BOX (according to another reviewer). Don't use the grid that came with the kitty litter (the grids are not designed for rats, bad for their little paws). 3. I put some of her droppings in the litter. use her tray! At first they went in, sniffed, chewed and played with the piece, but they did exactly what they were supposed to! It's so easy and fun to watch little rats climb into the tray. The only thing I'm not sure about is how to find another way to take out the trash. I gave my son a disposable plastic spoon and told him to scoop out feces and clumps as rat feces are the same size as pellets. You can't use a regular toilet spoon.
