There was pain in the neck and shoulder blade. I ordered this item to help. First I used it as a heating pad. Just put it in the microwave. Light. Just make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. I put it in the microwave for too long and the beads inside started to burn. It smelled like burnt popcorn. Felt really good on my neck and upper back although I did let it cool down a bit once. I used it cold too. You need enough space in the freezer to spread it out. Felt really good but depending on how bad your pain is it might be a little heavy on your shoulders.
