At least it doesn't squeak.
Our old idler pulley started to squeak terribly. Instead of just spraying with WD-40, we decided to replace the mechanism. After a few missteps (walking through the back instead of the front) we were able to swap it out with relative ease. That said, the new pulley is louder than what we had before, but at least the noise coming from it doesn't pierce your ears with nails to a blackboard.
