Review on 🍡 Discover the OXO BREW Twisting Tea Ball Infuser for Perfectly Infused Tea by Malacia Hernandez

The perfect tea infuser that can't be used with hot water

I bought two of these in a year. I really like the design and ease of use. The ball works like a perfect measuring spoon, then twist the little handle and it "clicks" shut, keeping the leaves in the brewer. I brew very good loose tea and rarely have anything floating in my cup. This is the best infuser I have ever had and I love it. However, there is a glaring problem. This thing cannot be used with hot water as the heat travels through the stainless steel rod to the black plastic handle which does not take heat and literally falls apart after a few months of use. The first time I tried it I thought it was an accident, as if something was wrong with the way it was made or installed. I found myself feeling warm to the touch after the first two infusions (which really shouldn't be - I figured that's what the plastic was for). When it fell apart in my hands and a tiny feather fell into the cup, I figured it was a marriage and ordered another. spring pulled out. The second time it took less than two months. The same thing happened - the black plastic overheated and just crumbled in my hands and shot around the room like a feather. I don't understand this product. The only flaw is a small piece of black plastic at the end of the handle. Why isn't it made of silicone? Or at least a heat-resistant plastic? It's not like it's anywhere near tea or even hot water, so it won't affect the taste if they try to find another material for the mechanism. And it's clear that this is happening to many other people, judging by the one-star reviews. I beg OXO - please fix this item! I would buy 20 and give them away if they were great products that could legally be used to make hot tea. Otherwise it's a waste of $10 (well, in my case it was a waste of $20 since I got two!) and not worthy of the OXO brand.
