Review on πŸš— Wire Mesh Car Barrier for Pets in the Midwest by Dana Black

This is probably the best solution available for this particular need. We used it to transport two people and two cats halfway across the country in April 2020. We always wanted to drive because we didn't really want our cats to fly (even before the pandemic). Here's the thing: We don't own a car. So I had to get an adjustable barrier because I wasn't quite sure what I would end up getting from the rental agency. Turns out I have a Dodge Grand Caravan and it worked as it should. I left a few scratches on the plastic of the headliner from screwing it on pretty tight. A small diameter pipe is one way to avoid this if you have time to pick it up before installing the barrier. I had to find a way to close the gaps between the seats and the frame that the bottom of the barrier didn't completely close. We had enough stuff in the car to crash into those areas, plus a mesh screen that I got as an add-on/spare if that didn't work. We also had to readjust a bit every now and then as it got a bit looser, but that was to be expected. We ended up driving over 2,000 miles with this installed and it performed as well as it could given the state of the world.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Some difficulties
