Good inexpensive fastener for one or two uses
In the end it did what I needed. Like the others, they quickly broke in 2 pieces and shattered the ring. If the original ring was a standard size instead of a tiny one, it wouldn't have mattered much. I ended up using one of the other ring sizes. Since then I've found much more expensive but also much more versatile options.
