Great for travel safety!

When planning my first trip to Israel and Turkey, I knew I needed reliable and worry-free security for my extra money, emergency credit card and passport. Since I was traveling alone, I had to be extra careful. Over the years I have accumulated traditional neck and waist bags. There are slight buckles on the belts which made me nervous. All was good for passport, credit card and reserve cash, they were too small for the small change I wanted to take with me. I knew I would be making lots of small purchases and didn't want any surprises on my Amex when I got back. I finally settled on the PakRat for a number of reasons: Made in America, reviewers complained about having to stop and fiddle around to get things, and the flexibility and large capacity. I ordered XS. When it arrived I tested it with about the same amount of paper on the thigh against bare skin, on the thigh over a variety of pants, and across the waist under a bra. In all of these positions, my PakRat would not move. I put cash in my front pocket and my passport in one of my back pockets. I ended up wearing it above my waist under my tunic. Most of the bills were hidden from my chest. I felt safe when using public transport to and from the airport. When I got to the airport, I dove into the ladies, stuffed the contents into my small burglar-proof shoulder bag, and left the PakRat on my body. After security and passport control I returned everything to PakRat. I did this because the scanners tend to run out because of the cash. No one could get at my stash! The only minuses are the logo and the blue stitching. I would never wear this over pants and a bathing suit at home on the streets of New York with any logo and the blue stitching draws attention to the PakRat. If the company releases a completely free version with a black logo, I might buy a different one. I would also like a plastic zipper on one of the small pass pockets.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • Very expensive
